What’s new?

A couple of weeks ago, the Plugsurfing app updated from 8.32 to 9.0. Instead of making a big splash right away, we decided to wait until the 9.1 release and the introduction of a much-anticipated addition: price filtering.

As always, our guiding star is making it easier for users to find the right place to charge. The latest patches streamline the charging experience by focusing on the map, filters, and charger details.

The features listed here are available in our flagship Plugsurfing app and the branded charging apps powered by us, including Nissan Charge, Polestar Charge, and more.

Filter chargers by price

Let’s be real. Many drivers complain that public charging is too expensive. We decided to insert instant price transparency into our charging map.

You can now filter chargers by the maximum price per kilowatt hour. If you decide that you’re not going to pay more than e.g. € 0.60 / kWh, we’ll only show you cheaper options.

The price filter is available in eight European currencies and you can easily adjust your maximum kWh price in the map view.

NOTE: The price filter doesn’t take into account other fee structures, e.g. session starting fee, minute-based fee, or blocking fee.

Experience the new map mode

Say goodbye to location clusters. Our engineers figured out a better way to load and present charging locations. Using the map is now a lot smoother and finding a place to charge much easier.

Now you can also view the map in satellite mode, to better visualize your surroundings in an unfamiliar place.

Grab the cheapest chargers nearby

Grab the bottom of your screen to pull up a list of chargers in a selected area, including:

  • operator name
  • distance from your current location
  • street address
  • availability
  • charging speeds

We also highlight the cheapest chargers and put them on the top of the list.

Enjoy easier subscriptions

We’ve updated our previously text-heavy subscription screens. Instead of going through multiple steps, you now get the essential info at a glance and can subscribe by just sliding a button.

Plugsurfing’s UK-based drivers can take advantage of our Plugsurfing+ subscription. And all Polestar drivers should check out the updated Polestar Charge subscription, now focusing on strong local fast-charging networks in 15 countries.
